Ratnagiri: Underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim’s properties in Khed Taluqua in Konkan region are set to be auctioned. Last year, the process of valuation of these properties was completed. Underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim, a wanted criminal, basically hails from Konkan. A tiny village Mumbke in Khed Taluqua in Ratnagiri district is his ancestral place.
Dawood owns several immovable properties in different parts including those in his native village. All these properties are in the name of Dawood's sister Hasina Parkar and mother Amina.
The main property in Khed is in the name of Hasina and other properties are in his mother Amina Bi's name. Dawood's siblings currently live in Pakmodia Street in Mumbai.
In the 80s, all the relatives used to reside in this bungalow. But, since Mumbai blasts shook the city in 1993, the bungalow has been deserted. Currently, the property is in extremely dilapidated condition. As the bungalow has been unused for years, it is surrounded by a dense jungle of bushes and shrubs. The three-story-tall building is so dilapidated that it may collapse any time.
Last year, the process of valuation of the property started. SAFEMA and Income tax teams had camped in the village for the valuation process. They surveyed the site.
The teams visited Mumbke village today to survey Dawood's properties. All the properties belonging to Dawood and his relatives were surveyed. Now, they will be auctioned under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act.
The cumulative value of the seven properties that are being auctioned is Rupees one crore. Dawood had started construction of the house in 1978-79. In 1980, the building was completed. It is a luxurious house in the name of Dawood's mother Amina Bi. Before the government took possession of the house, Dawood's younger sister used to live there. After her death, relatives decided not to return.
