Uncooked food served in langar: Sultanpur Lodhi

A unique langar was organised at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi of Kapurthala district in Punjab where people were served uncooked meal. The purpose of this langar was to make people understand the importance of consuming raw foods.

Sultanpur Lodhi (Punjab): Three-day-long langar was organised where people were served only uncooked foods at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi of Kapurthala district in Punjab.

The main purpose of this langar was to serve people raw foods that can save them from many diseases.

Deepak Ashwani, the organiser of the langer said, " Speciality of this langar is that here the food is uncooked, everything is raw and healthy. A wholesome meal was served to those who have come to the langar but all the foods are raw like, fruits, vegetable etc."

"Our next plan is to introduce this idea of the uncooked meal into the form of street foods," said Ashwani.

This langar of uncooked food can extend the lifespan of people, said Ashwani, adding that it can cure diseases occurred due to unsystematic lifestyle.

Appreciating the initiative, Ashwani described the way modern men can lead a disease-free life. He said, "One should consume only raw fool before noon and there must be a gap of 14 hours between breakfast and dinner. Besides this, people should avoid processed meals and dairy products for a better digestive system."

Meanwhile, the term langar is used to denote the community kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is served to all the visitors despite their differences.
