UAE honours PM Modi with its highest civilian award

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa honours Prime Minister Modi with the nation's highest civilian award, Zayed Medal. He credited Modi for playing a pivotal role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

New Delhi: UAE President Sheikh Khalifa has announced that he will honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Zayed Medal, UAE's highest civilian honour. It is awarded to kings, presidents and head of states of other countries for playing a significant role in boosting ties with Emirates.

UAE is an important ally for India as nearly 2.6 million Indians are staying there making it one of the biggest immigrant communities.

However, the foreign ministry spokesperson and PMO has been tight-lipped on this issue.

Intro:In a big development, the UAE President Sheikh Khalifa has honoured Prime Minister Modi with Zayed Medal on Thursday. Zayed Medal is UAE's highest civilian honour given to Kings, Presidents and head of states of other countries for playing significant role in boosting ties with Emirates. 







 









Body:The announcement was made by Abu Dhabi's crown prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed. He credited and hailed Prime Minister Modi for playing a pivotal role in strengthening India-UAE relationship further. While declaring the honour for PM Modi, Abu Dhabhi's crown prince also referred to him as his dear friend.


India-UAE relationship has witnessed an exponential rise in the recent years. Prime Minister Modi has visited the gulf country twice in three years. During his last visit, apart signing of many agreements, PM Modi also laid foundation stone of the Swaminarayan Temple. 


There are negotitions underway between UAE and Indian authorities to get Swaminarayan temple inaugurated from PM Modi's hands on April 20th. So far, the foreign ministry spokesperson and PMO has been tight-lipped on this issue. 



Conclusion:UAE is an important ally for India as nearly 2.6 million working Indians are residing there. Making it one of the biggest immigrant community.
