New Delhi: The Indian Youth Congress paid a tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the death anniversary, by providing financial assistance to poor and underprivileged people, symbolic to NYAY Scheme, which was earlier announced by the national party.

In its campaign, the youth wing of Congress party distributed direct cash to the underprivileged people across the country as "NYAY for 1 day", while demanding the Union Government to implement it for at least 6 months, during this crisis of Coronavirus pandemic.

IYC President, Srinivas BV, said, "This concept is a part of NYAY Yojana, which has been advocated by Rahul Gandhi, as an effective way to help underprivileged people and their families.

"As per this scheme, we are demanding that the Central Government gives financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per person for next 6 months, along with doubling the MGNREGA benefits for people employed under it in the rural areas," he further added.

While implementing this initiative across the country, Youth Congress also helped the unemployed people and those who have lost their jobs due to the adverse effect of this pandemic or due to the national lockdown.

Along with this, a blood donation camp was also set up at the headquarters of Youth Congress, in New Delhi, while keeping in view of the urgent medical needs of thousands of people.
