New Delhi: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has expressed deep disappointment and resentment against the Union government over Rs 20 lakh crore economic package. They stated have been completely ignored while announcing the economic package.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that the traders' body is terribly upset with the stimulus package announced by the Finance Minister and the community will seek the Prime Minister's intervention in this regard.

"The government did not take care of traders while announcing the stimulus package. As many as 7 crores traders of the country were ignored as no adequate package was given to them. Traders community give employment to at least 40 crores of people and we hoped that the government will announce some packages for us also but we were completely sidelined," said Khandelwal.

While expressing utter dismay he further said that the traders will be in deep financial crisis once the lockdown is lifted as they will have to pay workmen salary and settle other financial obligations.

It is to be noted that the CAIT has been a fairly vocal supporter of the BJP-government, but minced no words in expressing its displeasure against the government for the "step-motherly treatment."
