An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit many districts of northern Bihar on Wednesday morning. However, there were no reports of any casualty or damage to property.

2.DCGI gives nod to Serum Institute to restart phase 2,3 trials for COVID-19 vaccine

After the pharma major submitted the recommendations of the Data Safety Monitoring Board, The Drugs Controller General of India has given its nod to Serum Institute of India to restart its phase two and three clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccine. The DCGI has also asked SII to submit the details of the medication used as per protocol for the management of the adverse events.

3.13 killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Uttar Pradesh

As many as 13 people lost their lives after being struck by lightning in various parts of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the concerned District Magistrates to provide Rs 4 lakh financial assistance to family members of those killed.

As per a report by Association of Democratic Reforms, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has 41 per cent of leaders facing criminal charges, followed by Congress ( 40 per cent), Janata Dal-United (JDU) with 37 per cent and BJP with 35 per cent. The report is based on affidavits filed by candidates during 2015 Assembly elections.

5. Plea urges SC to take suo motu cognisance of student not allowed to appear in NEET

A petitioner-cum-lawyer, Shashwat Anand, has filed a petition before the apex court to take suo motu cognisance of a news report about a student who wasn't allowed to appear in NEET as he was 10 minutes late. The boy had reportedly travelled about 700 km to reach the examination centre.

India has slammed Pakistan, Turkey and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at United Nation's Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after they raked the Kashmir matter at the Geneva-based body. Turkey in the last few years has grown closer to Pakistan and has been raking Kashmir at international forums like UN.

7. NCB summons Sushant's ex-manager Shruti, talent manager Jaya Saha

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday issued summonses to actor Sushant Singh Rajputs former manager Shruti Modi and talent manager Jaya Saha, asking them to join its investigation on Wednesday, an official said.

Yoshihide Suga, the new leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, is set to take office as Japan's Prime Minister on Wednesday, with the immediate focus on reviving a battered economy while keeping the coronavirus under control.
