Swollen rivers, originating in Nepal and flowing through north Bihar, continued to wreak havoc on Saturday when more areas and inhabitants were hit by the floods raising the number of people affected by the calamity to over 73 lakh, said the disaster management department.

Pathanamthitta District Collector said that an orange alert has been issued in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district as the water level in Pamba dam is now flowing at 983.05 metres and it is likely to reach 983.50 metres within an hour. Due to heavy downpour, a massive landslide had occurred in Idukki district recently in which at least 26 people died.

At least seven people died after a fire broke out a Covid makeshift hospital in Andhra's Vijayawada on Sunday morning. The fire engulfed the Swarna Palace Hotel at which was converted to Covid care facility.

BJP District President AB Hamid Najar was shot at during morning walk by unidentified terrorists on Sunday in Budgam. Najar received bullet injuries in the attack and was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

A gangster was killed in an encounter with UP Special Task Force (STF) near Sarojini Nagar Police Station in Lucknow on Saturday late night. The notorious criminal Rakesh Pandey carried a bounty of Rs 1 lakh award.
