The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday the pleas seeking recall of its order staying this year's historic Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra, attended by lakhs of people from across the world, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Rajnath Singh to depart today for Moscow to attend 75th Victory Day parade

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will pay a three-day visit to Russia beginning Monday. The Minister is expected to attend a grand military parade in Moscow, which was earlier scheduled on May 9, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The grand parade marks the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Germany in the Second World War.

3. Telangana records highest single-day spike with 730 new COVID-19 cases, overall tally rises to 7,802

Telangana has reported 730 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours. The state's total coronavirus count has now gone up to 7,802, while the death toll has mounted to 210. As many as 3,731 patients have been discharged in the state after full recovery, leaving 3,861 active cases of Covid-19.

4. Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir's Poonch district

Pakistan violated ceasefire in Krishna ghati and Mankote sectors of Poonch district at about 3:30 am on Monday.It again violated ceasefire in Nowshera sector at about 5:30 am.

5. Kanpur: 57 girls at children's shelter home test COVID-19 positive, 5 of them pregnant

57 girls tested positive for COVID-19 at a children's shelter home in Kanpur, out of which, 5 were found to be pregnant. 2 Other girls who tested negative for the viral disease were also expecting. The administration claimed that all 7 girls were pregnant when they were taken in at the shelter home. Meanwhile, the source of the COVID-19 infection is still not known.

6. Chartered flight brings 173 stranded Indians back from UAE

A chartered flight on Sunday brought 173 Indians back to Karnataka from UAE where they were stranded since the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The flight, arranged by the Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC), landed at the Mangaluru international airport (MIA).

7. Final decision on 'Mahakumbh Mela 2021' in February next year: Uttarakhand CM

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who held a meeting with the members of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad on Sunday, to take a call on the Mahakumbh Mela-2021 said that the event will be held as scheduled and that the final decision regarding the same will be taken in February 2021.

8. CM Gehlot to launch coronavirus awareness drive on Monday

Rajasthan government to launch a Coronavirus awareness campaign among people in over 11,000 villages on Monday. The campaign will cover 11,500 village panchayats from June 21 to 30 June. During the launch of the campaign through a video conference, the chief minister will address villagers.

9. Priyanka attacks Uttar Pradesh government over media report about Kanpur child shelter home

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Uttar Pradesh government over an incident where two girls being found pregnant at a state-run child shelter home, saying it shows that facts were being suppressed in the name of investigations at such facilities.

10. Indian Army changes rules of engagement on LAC with China

After an incident of the violent face-off with China in Eastern Ladakh, the Indian Army has changed its rules of engagement on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) which would allow field commanders to order troops to use firearms under "extraordinary" circumstances.
