The emergency airlift brings into focus the close defence ties India shares with Kyrgyzstan which, like India, also shares the international border with China

A probe has been ordered against the death of six infants, including two newborns, within a span of 48 hours at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol. While the death of five children was reported on Sunday, the death of a newborn surfaced today morning, triggering allegations of medical negligence.

In a controversial statement, Bhartiya Janata Party's MLA from Bisfi, Haribhushan Thakur Bachol on Monday said the popular notion about religion that "it does not teach hatred" is a blatant lie. While inaugurating the second day of the three-day Mithila Vibhuti ceremony organised in memory of Adi poet Vidyapati in Darbhanga, Bachol also said some people do not vote for him as he is from BJP despite his hard work in the social domain.

6. Death toll hits 110 in attack on Nigeria farmers

Nigerian authorities have confirmed nearly 110 farmers were killed after Boko Haram militants launched the attack at Koshebe village in the Mafa local government area of the state while working on their farmlands. Edward Kallon, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, condemned the incident, in which several women were also kidnapped by the terror group Boko Haram suspected of being responsible for the attack on Saturday.

7. Minor Dalit girl abducted, raped in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar

A minor Dalit girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two people in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar. As per a complaint lodged by the girl's family, two men took the girl to a field and gang-raped her. The matter came to light when the minor managed to reach home and informed her parents about the incident. Police registered a case based on the complaint of the victim's family. The girl was sent to a hospital for medical examination, police said.

8. Urmila Matondkar to join Shiv Sena on Tuesday

After remaining in the denial mode for 14 months, former Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar will finally join the Shiv Sena on Tuesday, a senior aide to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said here on Monday. From September 2019 till November 30 evening, Matondkar, 46, had categorically denied that she was planning to join the Shiv Sena, though strong speculation reigned in political and media circles.

9. Air India pilot unions seek civil aviation ministry's intervention on wage cut issue

Air India pilot unions IPG and ICPA on Monday sought the civil aviation ministry's intervention on the wage cut issue and also requested for an "urgent" meeting with him on several other issues. "In our meetings in September, you had given us an assurance to look into our grievances positively. While other airlines are rolling back the austerity pay cuts for their pilots, the wage cut for Air India pilots further increased from October.
