Actress-turned politician Kushboo Sundar on Monday officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, hours after she resigned from the Congress.

The 2020 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel has been awarded to Paul R. Milgrom and Robert B. Wilson “for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats.”

3. Pakistani LeT terrorist among two killed in Srinagar encounter

The two terrorists who were trapped, have been killed in the encounter with security forces in Srinagar. The dead bodies of LeT's Saifullah, a Pakistan resident, and that of another local terrorist, have been recovered. Meanwhile, a search operation is underway. The killed local terrorist has not yet been identified.

In a bid to stimulate demand in the economy, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced a payment of cash in lieu of LTC and Rs 10,000 festival advance to government employees to stimulate consumer demand during the festival season and boost the economy.

5. Power outage across Mumbai, train services disrupted for hours

The Mumbai municipal commissioner asked all hospitals to keep diesel generator sets ready in case the power outage in the city lasts for a long duration. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has asked all hospitals to contact their transport garage officers to get enough diesel to operate generators for at least eight hours so that there are no power failures, especially in ICUs.
