1. Congress party pays tributes to 'trailblazer' Indira Gandhi

The Congress on Thursday paid rich tributes to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary with Rahul Gandhi saying the whole country still gives the example of her impressive leadership. Born on 19 November 1917, Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister from 1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. Rahul Gandhi also paid floral tributes to Indira Gandhi at her memorial 'Shakti Sthal'.

2. Pune's Tanay Manjrekar becomes first Indian to ride hyperloop

Hyperloop that is considered as a vehicle of extreme speed in future was recently tested successfully in the US with two manned test rides. Amongst them was India's Tanay Manjrekar who got this opportunity to be a part of loop pod experiment. Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, Tanay Manjrekar works as a power electronics expert at Virgin Hyperloop and his participation in the test ride was a pleasant surprise for all Indians.

3. Maharashtra to ramp up Covid testing before 2nd wave

Though the graph of COVID-19 cases has shown signs of decline, the Maharashtra government, anticipating a second wave of the infection, has asked authorities not to drop guard and take all necessary steps to deal with any situation. A circular-cum-advisory issued by the state Directorate of Health Services last week said the second wave of the pandemic is likely in January-February and asked officials concerned to ramp up COVID-19 testing in the state.

4. DDC polls fast becoming 'farce', exposes Centre's hollow claims on improved J-K security, says Omar Abdullah

National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Thursday hit out at the Centre over the ensuing District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that "the poll is fast becoming a farce and also exposes the hollow claims of the Centre and the improved security situation in Union Territory".The DDC elections will be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir in eight phases between November 28 and December 19, and the counting of votes will take place on December 22.

5. TN CM wants law against betting in online games

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami has urged the Centre to implement a law to ban online games involving money. Addressing reporters in Coimbatore on Thursday, Palaniswami said the state government has enacted a law. "It is only the Central government that can implement the law. It has full powers for that," he said. He had said the law will be drafted in such a way that those who organise such online games and the participants will be considered as culprits and punished with a jail term.

6. Delhi's poor air quality may worsen as temperature dips

Delhi's air quality was recorded in the “poor” category on Thursday morning and is likely to deteriorate further amid a dip in the minimum temperature. A change in the wind direction has also increased the share of stubble burning in the city's pollution slightly. Delhi's air quality index was recorded at 272 at 9 am. The 24-hour average AQI was 211 on Wednesday and 171 on Tuesday.

7. Biden approaches 80 million votes in historic victory

President-elect Joe Biden's winning tally is approaching a record 80 million votes as Democratic bastions continue to count ballots and the 2020 election cracks turnout records. With more than 155 million votes counted and California and New York still counting, turnout stands at 65% of all eligible voters, the highest since 1908, according to data from The Associated Press and the U.S. Elections Project.

8. Four terrorists killed in Nagrota encounter

Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered weapons from the site of encounter in Nagrota, in which four terrorists have been killed and on constable was also injured. Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh said a group of four JeM terrorists had infiltrated into India through the International Border in Samba on Wednesday night. They were travelling in a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which was intercepted by the police at a toll plaza near Nagrota.

9. Reserved category students to benefit from DU’s special cut-off list

The Delhi University (DU) will release a special cut-off list for the remaining seats in the ongoing admission process in which reserved category students will have more opportunity to take admissions. Apart from this, students of the general category will also have the opportunity to take admission in some courses but they will not be able to change their college after taking admission.

Filmmaker Om Raut's next directorial "Adipurush", starring Telugu star Prabhas and Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, will be hitting the theatres in the country on August 11, 2022. Backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, the multilingual period saga is an onscreen adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana and features "Baahubali" star as Lord Ram, while Khan will play Lankesh.
