1. MHA sets up team to coordinate probe against Gandhi family-linked trusts
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday informed that it has set up an inter-ministerial committee to coordinate investigations into alleged violation of laws like money laundering and foreign contributions by three Nehru-Gandhi family linked trusts, including the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF).The Ministry informed that the Special Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will head the committee.
2. Vikas Dubey flees Faridabad hotel before police arrival, 3 aides detained
Gangster Vikas Dubey, who was reported to be hiding at a hotel in Faridabad, fled the spot before police teams could nab him. Police, however, succeeded in arresting three aides of the gangster. They also found a CCTV footage as proof that Dubey was present at the hotel.
3. Ambedkar's Mumbai residence attacked by unidentified persons, FIR filed
The house of the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar was vandalised by some unidentified persons on Tuesday evening. Matunga police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in this connection.

Union HRD minister said that the UGC has changed its earlier guidelines for university examinations. The HRD ministry believes that students' performance in university examinations helps them get admission to higher educational institutions, providing scholarships and awards and getting better jobs. Hence, UGC and the HRD ministry rejected the demand to cancel the examinations.
10. Govt steps up aerial spray of pesticide to fight locust swarms
The Union government on Tuesday said it has stepped up aerial spraying capacity of pesticides by deploying Bell helicopter as well as IAF's Mi-17 choppers besides drones to fight crop-threatening desert locusts.This follows the UN body Food and Agriculture Organisation's (FAO) July 3 update warning India to be on high alert during the next four weeks as locusts continue to breed.
