Tiruppur (Tamil Nadu): In an innovative move to curb the deadly pandemic that erupted from China's Wuhan province, the Tiruppur District administration has set up a ‘disinfection tunnel’ at the entrance of the Uzhavar Santhai in Thennampalayam district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the disinfection tunnel, Tiruppur District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan said, "The tunnel adds value to our efforts to prevent further outspread of COVID-19. The solution used to spray is 1 per cent of sodium hypochlorite in 1 ppm and it has been tested and reviewed by a team of doctors."

It was set up by the District Administration in collaboration with Young Indians, the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
However, the Tiruppur District Collector maintained that this disinfection tunnel is only a supplement to precautionary measures such as frequent hand-washing.
Meanwhile, in a shocking development, about 110 fresh cases have been tested positive for the novel Coronavirus in the southern state of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
With this massive spike, the total number of COVID-19 infected cases have touched a new height of 234 in the state.
