Birikote (Odisha): A pall of gloom descended on Odisha's Birikote village belonging to Adava police station on Saturday as tragic news of death of three brothers, who reportedly died of asphyxiation tickled the area. The deceased have been identified as Bikram Majhi (35), Sanjeev Majhi (27) and Jitu Majhi (25) who reportedly belonged to the same family.
The incident reportedly happened when one of the brothers Sanjeev entered into the tunnel, dug inside their house to fetch something at around 9pm on Friday night. However, he started suffocating and fainted after which Bikram also went inside to rescue him. Unfortunately, he also fell unconscious.
Hours after the two brothers did not respond, Jitu also entered the tunnel to look for them. But he also suffered from asphyxiation and fell down.
Trio's sister alerted the family members and the victims were rushed to the Birikote's Medical hospital but they were declared dead.
Police personnel reached the hospital and the bodies have been sent for autopsy. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
