In the first incident reported from Dharampur village falling under Hilsa police station limits, a farmer was stabbed to death by some miscreants. His eyes were gouged out. According to reports received, the farmer was busy guarding his crops in the field when the incident happened. The deceased has been identified as Naresh Prasad.

Another farmer Mukhlal Rai was reportedly killed by goons with a sharp object. Reports suggest that Rai was stabbed several times while he went to sleep in the fields on Thursday night.

In the third incident, Shashikant Rai was shot dead at Ghuranpipra village under Kargahar police station limits in Rohtas. Like the other two farmers, Shashikant Rai was guarding his crops in the field.

Police said that all the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, adding that motives behind these murders are yet to be investigated.

"Search operation has been launched to nab the criminals," the police officer said.

Mahua SDPO Poonam Kesari said, "An investigating committee will be constituted to probe the incidents. We will take strict action as early as possible."

It is to be mentioned that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had called a high-level meeting with the officials over the deteriorating law and order in the state. CM instructed the concerned officers to take strict action against perpetrators and those who violate the law.

The RJD claimed that Nitish Kumar has lost grip over administration and has been critical of the JD(U) govt of the rising crime graph in the state.
