There should be no politics over coronavirus: K C Tyagi

Janata Dal (United) leader K C Tyagi has emphasized that there should be no politics over the on-going coronavirus crisis in the country. He also refuted allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took unilateral decision over the national lockdown, saying all concerned were consulted before it was imposed.

New Delhi: Stressing that there should be no politics on coronavirus crisis in India, Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi consulted all concerned before imposing the first phase of coronavirus-induced lockdown in the country.


Speaking to ETV Bharat, Tyagi said, "There should be no politics over the issue as it's a question of life and death of over 130 crore citizens of the country".


"If we survive the crisis, there could be politics also but at the moment there should not be any politics as far coronavirus is concerned," he said, adding that Modi had talks with all chief ministers, officials concerned and a former Prime Minister before taking a decision on lockdown.

On being asked if India was handling the global health crisis well, the JD (U) leader said that in comparison to other advanced countries India is actually doing well, but care should be taken as the contagious disease is still around and a large number of people are getting infected.


Talking about Bihar, he said the state should gear up for migrating workers who are now reaching to their home state from different parts o the country and might have the infection.
