Budgam gunfight: Militant killed, army jawan injured, operation underway
Srinagar: One army jawan was also injured during the gunfight in Central Kashmir's Budgam district.
"An unidentified militant has been killed today. The operation was halted yesterday due to darkness. With the first light of the day, the operation was again resumed, " a senior police official said.
He further said, "Last evening, during the initial exchange of fire between security forces and militants, one army jawan received splinter injury, who was shifted to 92 Base hospital for specialised treatment."
On Monday, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in charar Shareef.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.
