Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Malkajgiri ACP Yelmakuri Narasimha Reddy on Wednesday after unearthing assets worth at least Rs 70 crore in market value. The ACB carried out searches at 25 properties linked to him in Warangal, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Karimnagar districts, and also in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. ACP Yelamakuri Narasimha Reddy is presently working as ACP in Malkajgiri under Rachakonda police commissionerate.

The government value of these properties was found to be Rs 7.5 crore but the market value of these assets stand at Rs 70 crore. During the searches, officials have unearthed various properties which include 5 acres of agricultural land at Ananthapur, four plots measuring 1,960 sq yards in front of Cyber Towers, Madhapur, two other plots, one commercial G + 3 building at Hafeezpet, two houses, ₹ 15 lakh cash balance, two bank lockers, investments in real estate and other businesses.

Reddy would be produced before a special court for ACB cases in the Nampally criminal court complex. After medical tests, he would be remanded in judicial custody.

Initial inquiries revealed that the ACP had illegally acquired assets disproportionate to his lawful sources of income by indulging in corrupt and dubious means during his service. The search operations are in progress and the case is under investigation, the agency said in a press release.

Primary investigations have hinted that Yelamakuri Narasimha Reddy had brought properties with gift deeds and had also inherited wealth in the name of his family members. A poor man working for a nominal salary was also named as ACP's benefactor. However, no documents related to the properties have been found during the searches. ACB officials have also found that ACP Yelmakuri Narasimha Reddy had taken a loan of Rs 90 for construction of a hotel in Pedda ambarpet area in Hyderabad.

The investigating agency also suspects that the senior cop had transferred some assets to a woman residing in Madhapur area. Not only this, Yelmakuri Narasimha Reddy was also running a business with a Maharashtra man who is at large.
