Telangana police rescue 3600 children in Operation Smile

Telangana Police have rescued 3,600 children through Operation Smile in statewide operation. A team of officers performed inspections from January 1 to 31. The program, led by the Police Department, identified and rescue missing children, child labourers, trafficking children and beggars.

Hyderabad: As many as 3,600 children were rescued by the Telangana police in January under their Operation Smile initiative in statewide operation.

In the sixth phase of Operation Smile program, a team of officers performed inspections from January 1 to 31. The program, led by the Police Department, identified and rescue missing children, child labourers, trafficking children and beggars.

Speaking about the drive, Swathi Lakra, IG (Law & Order), Telangana, said, "3600 children were rescued including 2923 boys and 677 girls under Operation Smile-VI that was conducted in the State from January 1 to 31 to rescue/rehabilitate missing children. 411 cases have been registered under various Sections."

The police teams rescued the children from different locations like railway stations, bus stations, religious places, traffic junctions, mechanic shops, brick industries, shops, tea stalls, footpaths, etc.

From the 3,600 children, 2,923 are boys and 677 are girls.

According to the police, 1982 children have been restored to their parents, while 1618 are admitted to rescue homes. Among the rescued children, 1292 are from other States.

The police rescued 13 Nepal and four Myanmar children. Along with Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Around 100 children were from northern states have been found by the police. 304 children from Odisha were rescued.

Over 400 cases were registered under various IPC Sections related to crime against children and the Juvenile Justice Act.

For the first time in Operation Smile, the Child Track Portal, facial expressions detection technology (DARPAN TECHNOLOGY) gave good results. Two missing children under the Kalvakurthi and Kushaiguda Police Station have been identified and handed over to the parents with the help of Darpan application.

They identified areas where child labour was the most vulnerable and most vulnerable to children and identified them as black spots. Special emphasis is placed on railway stations, bus stations, religious places, traffic jams, mechanic shops, brick kilns, teasties and shops.

In an industry in the industrial area of Catheddan under the Cyberabad Commissionerate, 12 child labourers have been identified. Eleven people have been rescued in the warehouse of the old treasures of Pahadisherif. All the children found in the checks were taken to the homes run by the Women and Child Welfare Department and charities. The children's details and faces were digitalized and connected to all the police stations. If there are missing children and abducted cases within the respective police stations then the Parents have the opportunity to immediately compare.

The police have given special attention to children trafficking. as part of Operation Muskan. In July last year, cases were registered on 411 members who make children work in their shops and garages. Cyberabad Police Station was the first to rescue a large number of 404 children. DGP Mahender Reddy congratulated the police teams involved in Operation Smile.
