Tatkal booking scam: RPF arrests ticket tout in Vizag

E-tickets worth Rs 14.83 Lakhs were detected by Railway Protection Force, Visakhapatnam in a raid conducted on Tuesday. RPF has also detected an illegal software ANMS which is used to manipulate and hack the IRCTC e-ticket portal and generate Tatkal railway tickets in a faster way.

Visakhapatnam: Railway Protection Force, Visakhapatnam has launched its biggest crackdown on railway ticket agents and touts by detecting an illegal software ANMS which is used to manipulate and hack the IRCTC e-ticket portal and generate Tatkal railway tickets in a faster way.

A special team of RPF has conducted the raid in which tickets worth Rs 14.83 lakhs were detected on Tuesday.

The ANMS software helps in getting tickets multiple times of normal speed and book tickets by using fake personal user IDs at a time simultaneously. This software also provides facilities like auto-fill of passenger details, train details, travel plans, bank details, auto-login IRCTC, so that the agents could able to generate tickets within a fraction of seconds by using high-speed internet and highly configurated computers. Hence, the genuine passengers are deprived of tatkal tickets at the opening time.

The special RPF team consisting of Inspectors P. Srinivasa Rao and R.K. Rao conducted a search at SP Tours and Travels and seized 582 railway tickets valued Rs 11.31 lakhs and arrested the owner Samir Kumar Pradhan.

"Since last three months RPF Visakhapatnam was conducting intensive raids against illegal ticketing and in this process, the team was able to detect on illegal software which is being used by the racket pan India and this is the first case detected in East Coast Railway," Jitendra Srivastava, Sr Divisional Security Commissioner said.

Apart from this, another search was conducted at Tatichetlapalem and seized 129 e-tickets valued Rs 3.52 lakhs and made an arrest.

The 9 day long, Thati Maati pooja in the Mainpawta village of the Jaunsar Bawar area came to an end. During this pooja, people pray for the well being of everyone around. This pooja is being done from historical times. Although this time, the Thati Maati pooja was done after a gap of 11 years.

During this pooja, a pre designated area called Thati, is worshipped. All the villagers take part in the rituals. A diya is lit after prayers at the main area. After this, for the next 9 days, Paandav dance is performed around the area and Hawan is also done. 

This is the belief

It is believed that during the Paandav dance, the male or female member of the village, who is blessed with the shadow of Paandava’s, dances to the tune of Dhol and Damau. The local villagers are very excited for the nine day long prayers and celebrations. On the 9th day, which marks the end of the pooja, a lot of villagers from the nearby villagers gather here. On the last day, the land is also divided. In this it is believed that Pandaava’s take a mortal form and divide the land. A plow is also used in the land. It is believed that by doing so, the farm’s and the farmers are blessed with good fortune.

Kriparam Joshi, a retired revenue officer of the Mainpawta village tells, that this pooja practice is being carried from historical times. During this time the thati of the village is worshipped. An earthen lamp  is lit on the the thati for 9 days. Paandav dance is also performed during these days. This pooja is done for the well being of the village.

Keshavram, an elderly from the village tells that, as per rituals, at first the local diety Mahasu Dev is worshipped. Along with other god and goddess, the Pandaava’s are also worshipped.
