Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): "Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." This famous quote by Mark Twain reflects that if passion is combined with the true desire then nobody can stop a person of any age from achieving excellence and success.

One such living example can be seen in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior where Vimal Chandra Jain designs fragile glass bulbs at the delicate age of 70 years. His expertise lies in carving names and intricate designs over glass objects with a tiny hammer.

During his early years, with consistent and unrelenting practice, Jain used 'Chaini' and thick glass to train himself in the art of designing electronic bulbs.

After mastering the art, Jain's work got recognition and he started getting orders worldwide.

Jain's artwork has been showcased in many cities, including Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur and Rajkot.

Due to the unfading skill of her septuagenarian father-in-law, Vandana Jain feels extremely proud of his dedication towards his talents. Vimal Chandra Jain has also developed his expertise in designing thin glass bangles.

One of the neighbours, Sachin believes that he should be presented with the national award to honour his dedication.

When Jain was 15, he used to write his name on bronze and steel containers and cutlery. Following this, he extended the horizon of his skill to carving names on trophies and shields made up of stones, metals and granite.

Sharing his experience, Jain said that he had first gained success in inscribing the ‘Namokar Mantra' on the objects, after which he started designing by receiving orders.

At the ripe age of 70, Jain is still developing his talent by writing names on the screen of mobile phones and the dials of wrist-watches.
