Skilling people, providing jobs in rural & tribal areas should be priority: Gadkari

Speaking at the culmination ceremony of Apprenticeship Pakhwada Programme, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that skilling people and providing jobs in rural and tribal areas should be a priority. The 15-day Apprenticeship Pakhwada saw state governments and the industry come together for a commitment of 7 lakh apprentices in the current fiscal.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that skilling people and providing jobs in rural and tribal areas should be a priority.

Speaking at the culmination ceremony of Apprenticeship Pakhwada Programme, Gadkari said that it was important to build skilling capabilities for both urban and rural areas.

He also urged Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey to focus towards nurturing skills in rural and tribal areas which are affected by poverty and unemployment due to which they migrate to cities.

The minister said that the MSME sector has enormous scope for growth and a great need of skilled manpower for sericulture, horticulture, tribal arts and paintings, honey, bamboo, sectors that have great potential of becoming export-strength for the country.

Intro:New Delhi: Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari during his address at the industry interaction and culmination ceremony organised by Ministry of Skilled Development and Entrepreneurship claimed that skilled manpower is the need of the hour for the country.


Body:Acknowledging unemployment and migration as two big challenges, he claimed that his ministry is taking all necessary steps to identify potentials which every sector upholds. According to which skilled manpower can be created via training.

He even urged Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey to focus towards nuturing skills in rural and tribal areas which is affected from poverty and unemployment due to which they migrate to cities.











Conclusion:After taking charge of the MSME as a Minister, Nitin Gadkari promised to revive the sector which has been the backbone of the country's economy. He had promised to create nearly five crore jobs in the next five years.

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises contribute nearly 29% to country's GDP. 49% of India's goods exported also comes from this sector.
