New Delhi: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that skilling people and providing jobs in rural and tribal areas should be a priority.
He also urged Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey to focus towards nurturing skills in rural and tribal areas which are affected by poverty and unemployment due to which they migrate to cities.
The minister said that the MSME sector has enormous scope for growth and a great need of skilled manpower for sericulture, horticulture, tribal arts and paintings, honey, bamboo, sectors that have great potential of becoming export-strength for the country.
The 15-day Apprenticeship Pakhwada saw state governments and the industry come together for a commitment of 7 lakh apprentices in the current fiscal.
