New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal delegation on Saturday met External Affairs Ministry and requested the Indian government to take up the issue of abduction of Bulbul Kaur, daughter of Head Granthi of Gurudwara Panja Sahib, with the government of Pakistan.

The delegation informed the Ministry that 15 days back, Bulbaul Kaur was also abducted by two Muslim men and there is no news of her since then despite her family‘s repetitive pleas to the police and authorities.

"Her father Granthi S. Pritam Singh has been seeking help with folded hands from community and leaders to save her daughter from the butchery of conversion," the delegation said.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa Spokesperson (SAD) said that with this abduction an impression is being created that girls of Head Granthis of prominent Sikh Gurudwara are inclined towards Muslim boys and this attempt will not be tolerated by the Sikh Community.

The Delegation apprised the Ministry that in last three months more 55 girls of the minority community have been abducted, converted to Islam and then married to Muslim men and in this case, it appears that same modus operandi has been followed like the case of Jagjit Kaur, daughter of Head Granthi Nankana Sahib.

They urged the Ministry to take up the matter immediately with the Pakistan Government and permission should be given to a delegation of the DSGMC and SAD to visit Pakistan and ascertain the true facts following the status of such girls.

The delegation also disclosed that JP Singh, Joint Secretary Incharge of Pakistan Desk in the Ministry, informed them that they had summoned Pakistan High Commissioner on Friday after they were informed by Sirsa and have told them to ensure the return of girl within 24 hours. Now they will again seek a report on the status of her return.

Sirsa announced that they will wait till Sunday evening for return of the girl and on failure a dharna will be staged in front of Pakistan High Commission in Delhi which will continue for until justice is delivered.

It is worth mentioning that in 2019, Jagjit Kaur faced the same torture. Her family is still fighting to get her back but even the law protects the radicals and thus conversion factory runs at full pace in Pakistan.

They said that this is not a coincidence; this is a well-hatched conspiracy to convert the daughters of Sikh influencer families especially because Sikhs are the most courageous, humanitarian and open-minded community, ready to help everyone. This is an attempt to belittle the faith and practice of Sikhism in Pakistan. Such humiliation faced by Sikh families deeply anguishes every Sikh worldwide.

They urged the Indian government that steps must be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of Sikh families in Pakistan and it should voice the concerns of the global Sikh community.

Members of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee were also in a part of the delegation.
