Kutch district health officer Dr Prem Kumar Kannar told ETV Bharat, "The concerned person left Mumbai on April 28 and arrived in Kutch the next day. He tested positive after coronavirus test was conducted in a private laboratory in Gandhidham. He has been kept in an isolation ward for treatment in a private hospital. Persons who had come in contact with him have all tested negative."

"He managed to take permission from the Maharashtra administration and the director-general of shipping. The fact that he left the containment zone and came all the way to Kutch is a serious matter," added Kannar.

The Kutch administration has requested the Maharashtra government to be vigilant so that such kind of lapse does not occur again.

The administration also requested the shipping authorities of Kutch to abide by the rule of allowing only those crew members, who have undergone coronavirus test from their respective areas of residence, to report to the duty.
