New Delhi: A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam to address a mammoth gathering commemorating the historic Bodo Accord, Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader Atul Anjan on Thursday said that the accord is nothing but only a tactic by the government to divert attention from other issues.
Hitting out at the BJP government, Atul Anjan said that NRC is a total failure, and to expect peace out of NRC is to fool oneself. "You can't establish peace this way, this is a ploy being played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Did NRC in Assam bring peace? Lakhs of people have been left out of the NRC list. Many of these people are from the Muslim community and the maximum of them hail from the Hindu community," Anjan added.

He further mentioned that none of the ministers from Assam is being able to go out on the roads, they are being given extra security forces for their protection, lakhs of women have taken to the streets to get their voices heard and Assam is going through one of its worst phases. "This situation reminds one of the year 1984 when Rajiv Gandhi and AASU were to sign agreements" Senior Communist Party of India leader Atul Anjan reiterated.
Prime Minister Modi will address a huge gathering in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Friday commemorating the signing of the Bodo Accord. The Accord was signed on January 27 in New Delhi between central government, Assam government, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and four Bodo rebel groups.
