Ahmedabad: The seaplane which will connect Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad to Statue of Unity in Kevadia reached Ahmedabad. After taking off from the Maldives and a transit halt in Goa, the seaplane landed in Gujarat on Monday. The seaplane is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31. The first flight will take off from Ahmedabad riverfront at 8 am on October 31.
The seaplane which will complete the 220 km distance between Ahmedabad to Kevadia within 45 minutes has a seating capacity of 19. It can take off from a 300-meter long runway.
It was informed that during the initial phase, only 14 people including 5 crew members will be seated. The authorities will operate eight flights daily from Ahmedabad to Kevadia with a ticket price of Rs 4,800.
Indian pilots will be trained for six months by foreign experts.
