New Delhi: With the government recognising ultraviolet (UV) rays as a disinfectant, Dr Samrat Ghosh, a scientist from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali has invented a special steel frame to be used in UV chambers that will get daily use items like mobile, key-chain, debit cards, pen, mask, etc. 100 per cent virus free.
Since the spread of coronavirus, a lot of companies are selling UV chambers with people using it without full knowledge. They often end up sanitizing only one side of their daily use products which possesses possible harm of infection.
It is to help with this and do a complete clean-up of the products, the triangle-shaped steel frame is invented by Dr Ghosh. He claims that the use of this frame will get the things cleaned within ten minutes since the product allows UV rays to reach all sides of the infected things. His invention costs Rs 200.
Ethanol also increases UV chambers' effectiveness
Dr Samrat Ghosh also points out that ethanol spray can be used to make the UVC chamber more effective. If ethanol is sprayed in the chamber before placing the object in it, the ability to kill the virus increases.
Some international articles also confirm this.
