SC takes note of no fresh incidents of violence against Kashmiris

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday considered the Centre's report stating that no fresh incidents of violence on Kashmiris has been reported after the SC's directives on February 22 to prevent such acts.


The apex body recorded the submissions, directing the states to file a response within seven days.


After the Pulwama attack on 14th February, several incidents of violence against the Kashmirs were reported after which a PIL was filed by lawyer Tariq Adeeb. 


The report, submitted by Attorney General K K Venugopal stated that no fresh incidents of violence have taken place against Kashmiri people since the apex court's directive on the issue.


On February 22, the SC had directed the chief secretaries and DGPs of 11 states to take actions in order to prevent the violence, threats and boycotts against Kashmiris living outside the Valley.


The SC added that no further orders are required at the moment after the centre's submission and posted the PIL for hearing after two weeks now.

Body:The bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi took on record of the submissions and directed the states to file a response within 7 days.
