New Delhi: The Supreme court today issued notices on a petition filed by Jharkhand's DGP MV Rao who had sought a direction to the Lok Sabha Secretariat (Privileges and Ethics Branch) and the Committee of Privileges to produce the details regarding breach of privilege on BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's complaint.
Nishikant Dubey, a BJP Lok Sabha MP from Godda constituency, has lodged a complaint with the Committee of Privileges claiming that some officials of the JMM-led Jharkhand government allegedly conspired to defame him by implicating him and his family members in false criminal cases with an aim to cause hindrance to his working as a lawmaker.
Dubey had filed a complaint contending that officials of the state government were conspiring against him to defame him by putting false charges on him and his family. FIRs were filed against Dubey and his family members in July for cheating, forged documents etc.
In response to the complaint, Committee of privileges had asked the Deoghar SP to appear before it on 8th September. The SC today stayed the summon.
Rao had contended that there is no case of breach of privilege and instead the committee of privileges had misused its power where it had no jurisdiction and hindered the police's work to register and investigate a matter. The notice is returnable in 4 weeks.
