New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea which sought implementation of 'One nation One Ration card' scheme during the lockdown as people stranded in different states are not having ration cards.
The court said that the government is looking into the matter and are taking steps.
The bench comprising Justice NV Ramana, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice BR Gavai, said that just because the petitioner is a lawyer does not mean he will bring every issue to the court.
A PIL was filed in the Supreme Court on 17th April which sought directions to the government to temporarily implement "One nation one umbrella" during the corona pandemic due to the absence of One nation, one ration card.
The petitioner sought directions to ensure that migrant workers get the subsidised food grains and benefit schemes in the respective states even if they are in other states.
