New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain plea claiming corruption charges against Allahabad High Court judge Justice Ram Krishna Gautam.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi dismissed the petition challenging the appointment of the Additional Judge of Allahabad HC.
Earlier, the case was being heard by the bench headed by Justice AK Sikri.
Justice Gautam, who was a district and sessions judge, was alleged to have been associated with crime syndicates and was involved in a racket to secure acquittals for heinous crimes.
District judge, U K Sirhoi, had made a representation to the Allahabad HC alleging misconduct and corruption by Justice Gautam.
A complaint was made against him by the petitioner before then Chief Justice of Allahabad HC DY Chandrachud.
The Allahabad HC Chief Justice ordered a discreet Vigilance inquiry into these allegations. Pending the inquiry, Chandrachud J was elevated to the Supreme Court.
The SC had asked for a consolidated list of charges and allegation against Justice Gautam in December last year.
