New Delhi: The Supreme Court today disposed the contempt plea against a Chennai professor who had threatened Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhawan appearing for Muslims' party in the Ayodhya dispute case. The professor expressed regret and senior advocate Kapil Sibal appearing for Dhawan said that he did not wish for any punishment.
Dhawan had mentioned before the court that he received a letter from the professor on 14th August,2019, who threatened him for representing Muslims in the Ramjanmabhumi Babri masjid case.
He had alleged that it was a criminal contempt as the professor was intimidating a senior advocate for appearing for a party in the case.
The hearing for the case continued on Thursday where Dhawan said worshipers can only file a suit to protect their own rights and do not have the right to sue on behalf of the idol.
