Ghulam Nabi Azad thanked PM for referring CWC's 1947 proposal

Following Prime Minister's speech on CAA, a ruckus broke out in Rajya Sabha, after PM Modi slammed Congress for introducing the policy of National Population Register. 

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad thanked PM Modi for giving reference of CWC's 1947 proposal in the House and asserted that the entire opposition including Congress is in the favour of the government to provide citizenship to Hindu's coming from neighbouring countries.

All the Opposition parties including Congress left and the House has been adjourned till Friday.

Giving reference of Congress Working Committee's proposal on 25 November 1947, PM Modi stated that Congress had once mentioned that they want to protect non-Muslims who came from Pakistan but in present, they are not so concern about those minority people of the neighbouring countries.

Speaking about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that under the name of anti-CAA, violence, unrest, and disorder is rising across the nation. 

"Attempts are being made to cover undemocratic activity under the garb of protests against new citizenship law. No one is going to get political benefit out of protests against citizenship law,"  Modi claimed. 

Slamming Opposition over CAA, PM Modi said that it is natural to understand Congress' stand but it is quite surprising to see the Kerala government protest against CAA. 

"Kerala chief minister has warned about extremist being involved in anti-citizenship law protests," he added.

PM Modi maintained that after the modification of Article 370, the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the first time got the benefit of reservation. The region first time witnessed the block development elections. The law of RERA was also implemented after the abrogation of Article 370.

"The policies of start-ups, trade and export and logistics were not only made but also implemented and Jammu and Kashmir got the first anti-corruption bureau after the modification of Article 370. There is a decrease in the terror funding activities across the region," Modi said.

Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javedkar said: "There should be no hypocrisy in the politics.  NRC is only implemented in Assam which was introduced by Rajiv Gandhi and Congress. PM Modi has clarified that the proposal to implement NRC across the nation is yet to be presented. In the 1980s, NRC was good but not it has suddenly changed into a bad concept and the government is blamed for creating negativity. This is known as hypocrisy in politics."

Highlighting the achievements of the government, Javadekar asserted that with co-ordinated efforts the nation has witnessed a decline of 2/3rd per cent in the Maoist activities and deaths of innocent people. 

He also praised the settlement of Boroland and reflected the positive impact of India worldwide after 10 students were evacuated and rescued from coronavirus-hit Wuhan which included five Indian students and five students from the Maldives.

Indian National Congress leader Anand Sharma from Himachal Pradesh raised the issue of CAA in the Rajya Sabha.

"CAA is unconstitutional and it lacks morality and ethics.  CAA is hindering the fundamental rights of the citizens of India. Many big states of the nation have raised concerns over the implementation of this act hence, it should not be considered as an achievement by the government," Anand Sharma said.

Raising question against the new narrative of the county, Sharma said: "People who support the government are patriot but those who oppose and protest against the policies of the government, they are considered as traitors."

Highlighting the five trillion dollar economy policy of the government, Sharma asserted that to achieve the target nation should attain uninterrupted GDP growth for 5 year which is not possible with 4.5 per cent GDP.

He also criticised the rising economic slowdown, demonetisation, and unemployment across the nation by accusing the government of its monumental mismanagement.

New Delhi: BJP MP Mahesh Poddar has given Short Duration Discussion Notice in Rajya Sabha over "separatist movement in Jharkhand and adjoining states".

In October last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had informed that deaths and incidents due to Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) will become negligible in the next four years if the current trend of decrease in such incidents continues.

According to an annual report released by the MHA, the number of deaths has decreased by more than 75 per cent and incidents due to LWE have also come down by almost 63 per cent in the last eight years.

A significant decline was seen in the incidents of LWE violence in the last five years. The spread of the LWE extremist also shrank geographically, the report stated. 

The first phase of the Budget Session of the Parliament will conclude on February 11, while the second part of the session will begin from March 2 and end on April 3.
