Rs 77,640 crore released for AMRUT project to states

The government has released a total of Rs 77,640 crore to states for several action plans under Prime Minister's flagship scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

New Delhi: The government has released a total of Rs 77,640 crore to states for several action plans under Prime Minister's flagship scheme Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).


While speaking to ETV Bharat, Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said "Out of total fund, Rs 35,990 is allocated to centre and Rs 41,000 has been allocated for states and local bodies. A high-level committee has been formed in states for monitoring the implementation of the project", Mishra added.

The AMRUT scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June with an aim to establish an infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply for urban transformation.Like Swachh Bharat Mission, Housing for all 2022 is another flagship scheme of government to bring a transformation in rural and urban areas.

As per government statistics in possession of ETV Bharat, Telangana has received more than Rs 135 crore whereas Andhra Pradesh received Rs 91.394 crore and Rajasthan received more than 150 crores and Maharashtra received Rs 500 crore for the entire period (2015-20).

Intro:New Delhi: The Centre is pushing hard to states across India to implement Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) projects. Under this mission a sum of Rs 77,640 crore have been sanctioned toll date.


Body:"Since June 2015 till date a sum of Rs 77,640 crore has been sanctioned. Out of this total amount central share is Rs 35,990 crore and the remaining amount of Rs 41,000 plus have been generated by states and its urban local bodies," said Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

He said that all the states are doing well. The central share for the states has already been approved and a high level committee in states under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary is monitoring the project implementation process, said Mishra.

The AMRUT scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June with an aim to establish robust infrastructure and water supply for urban transformation.


Conclusion:Government tatistics in possession of ETV Bharat said that Telangana has received more than Rs 135 crore. Andhra Pradesh has received Rs 91.394 crore, Rajasthan has received an amount of rupees more than 150 crore and Maharashtra has received an amount of Rs 500 crore for the entire mission period (2015-20).

All 2022, AMRUT is another flagship scheme of the Modi Governmnet to bring a transformation in the urban (rural) landscape.
