New Delhi: The Supreme Court today has decided to appoint retired apex court judge Justice DK Jain as the ombudsman in the BCCI matters. He is the first court-appointed ombudsman for BCCI.
During the hearing of the case, Amicus PS Narsimba pointed out to the court that it was an urgent requirement to appoint an ombudsman for resolving many pending disputes including the matter of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Subsequently, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, who was hearing the matter, asked whether the parties involved had any objection if the court appointed an ombudsman.
No party objected. Narsimba then handed over a list of six former judges to the Supreme Court as recommendations.
Justice DK Jain's name was acceptable to every party and hence his name was accepted. The court said that he must take charge as soon as possible.
