Relieve Back Pain With  Ayurvedic Home Remedies

Working from home is a relief in the initial days of the lockdown, which was taken a step to prevent people from COVID. But, gradually we have started to relax on sofa in awkward positions and complaining of back pain. Our expert Dr. Nirmala Devi, MD Ayurveda, Amrutha Ayurvedic Hospital shared some tips to get rid of it.

Work from home is leading to many health problems and backache is one of the prominent ones in this, especially when we are working from home and also working for home simultaneously. Therefore, to your rescue, we asked Dr. Nirmala Devi, MD Ayurveda, Amrutha Ayurvedic Hospital, Andhra Pradesh to recommend some Ayurvedic home remedies that will help to relieve the back pain. Here is what she suggested:

Oral Remedies

Fresh Ginger And Honey Drink

Pour 4 cups of water in a vessel and add 2tbsps freshly grated Ginger to it and boil it till the water reduces to half. Strain the liquid in a cup and add 1tbsp Honey to it. Allow it to cool down to normal room temperature and then drink it.
Drink this early in the morning on an empty stomach.

Poppy Seeds And Mishri Powder
Take 100 gms of Poppy seeds and Mishri (Rock candy) and grind them. Take 2tbsps of this powder followed by a glass of warm milk twice a day.
Fenugreek Seeds Powder
Prepare a powder of fenugreek seeds and store it. Have 1tbsp of this powder daily with water on an empty stomach. You will notice the changes within 15 days.
Golden Drink
In a glass of warm milk, add a pinch of turmeric and a few drops of honey. Practice drinking it regularly on an empty stomach to get rid of backaches and any other body pain. It is also helpful in cold and cough.
The Basil Drink
Pour one cup of water in a pan and add 8-10 fresh basil leaves in it. Allow it to boil till the water reduces to half and strain the liquid. Allow it to cool down to room temperature. Now add a pinch of salt to taste and consume it.
For mild pain: Drink it once a day
For severe pain: Drink it twice a day

Massage Tips:

Simple oil massage
Massage with warm Sesame oil or Turpentine oil on the affected area to relieve the pain.
Coconut And Garlic Oil
In a pan, add 4-5 tbsps of Coconut oil and add 6 cloves of peeled garlic to it. Let the garlic fry till it becomes dark brown in colour. Now let it cool down and the massage with it on the affected area.

Mustard Oil Massage
Massage your back with Mustard oil an hour before going for a hot water bath. It eases the pain.

Camphor And Coconut Oil
Mix Camphor in Coconut oil and boil it for 5 mins. Let it cool down and store it in a bottle. Massage with it twice a week before going to sleep to get rid of backaches.

Dr. Nirmala says, “Back pains can be caused due to improper body postures while sitting, standing, bending or lifting heavy objects. Few other reasons like lack of physical activity, poor diet, stress, pregnancy, or issues like arthritis and herniated discs can also be responsible for the pain”. Therefore, you can try these easy remedies at home instead of directly popping a pain killer in your mouth.
