New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday has asked Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to reactivate local peace committee in order to involve local people to avert any kind violence.
Meanwhile, Delhi police have denied that shortage of forces led to violence aggravating in North East Delhi on Monday. It contradicts reports that non-availability of adequate forces was conveyed by Delhi Police Commissioner Patnaik during his meeting with the top brass of the MHA.
In a tweet, Delhi police denied giving any information to MHA that lack of forces led to violence aggravating.
Home Minister Shah called a meeting at North Block on Tuesday morning and took stock of the overall situation following Monday violence that shocked the national capital.
Shah, according to the sources, noted that as per assessment, violence in the capital has been spontaneous.
Shah has also expressed confidence in Delhi Police and said that the force has shown maximum restraint to get the situation under control.

Home Minister Shah has appealed to all to desist from spreading rumours and said that political parties should co-operate with the police to stop rumours.
Shah has also asked Delhi Police Commissioner to have Senior Police officers present in the police control room so that rumours can be dispelled as quickly as possible.
Shah has also asked political parties to ask their local representatives to hold meetings in sensitive areas and instructed senior police officers to visit the vulnerable police stations at the earliest.
Feedback on the issue has been taken from local representatives and incorporated for further course of action after discussions with Lieutenant Governor and Delhi police commissioner.
The meeting was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, Congress leader Subhas Chopra, Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal and other senior officials of Home Ministry and central intelligence agencies.
As many as nine people including a police constable were killed during the violence in North East Delhi. At least 50 people, including civilian and paramilitary forces, were also injured in the violence.
