Burdwan: A rare yellow tortoise was spotted in Kaligram Daspur area of Block No. 1 in East Burdwan and was later rescued.
Indian Forest Service official Debashis Sharma took to Twitter saying a yellow tortoise had been rescued from West Bengal and shared the image.
The tortoise was later handed over to the forest department.
They were of the stance that the yellow colour may be the result of genetic mutation or congenital disease due to the absence of tyrosine pigment.
Two yellow turtles were rescued so far this year.
The previous one was rescued in July from Balasore, Odisha.
