AIADMK leader Vijila Satyanath thanked the Prime Minister for allowing the change of the Chennai Central railway station to Puratchi Tahalaivar Dr. MG Ramachandran Central Railway Station.
She said that the station, with 57 letters, now holds the record for the second longest name of a railway station, behind a station in the Wales with 58 letters.
She also said that Tamil Nadu faces high internal migration and people pin their hopes on the completion of doubling projects.
"While long pending new lines have hardly received funds in the Union Budget, the absence of announcement on doubling of some lines that V Vaithilingam also brought up, is concerning," she added.

House passed the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2019.
The Bill also seeks to upgrade three deemed Sanskrit universities --Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth Tirupati -- into central universities.

Senior BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy supported the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill and read out Article 343 of the Constitution.
He said that those who say Sanskrit is a dead language are themselves intellectually dead.
He cited a paper by NASA that Sanskrit is the best language for artificial intelligence.
He also spoke about a school in London where Sanskrit is being taught compulsorily.
This is something that Congress men should learn. Your brain will improve if you learn Sanskrit shlokas," he said.
He further added that 40% of words in Tamil and Sanskrit are common.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh spoke about the amount of money the government is spending on Sanskrit. He said that the government needs to look at other languages too.
He also said that one institution should be named after Panini, the Sanskrit grammarian. The other name is Patanjali, but if you name a university as Patanjali today, it will send the wrong signal. He also asked the government to consider Amarasimha as another name.
He further added that the Minister should not be Chancellor for Central universities and instead the position can be given to a Sanskrit scholar.
Ram Gopal Yadav (SP) said that the Sanskrit University in Varanasi is in bad shape.
Prashanta Nanda (BJD) spoke in Sanskrit. He spoke about the greatness of Sanskrit. He said that it holds a place of pride in history and mythology. He also supported the Bill.

Replying to a query in the House during Question Hour, coal minister Pralhad Joshi said that India houses the fourth largest resources in the world yet thermal coals were being imported and should be stopped.
"There is no hesitation in saying that in many states some import lobby is also working. Though in last three-four months we have enough stock some of the Gencos are importing. This is the major problem," Joshi said.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, answered Members' questions on road accidents and traffic rules violations.
Gadkari responded to concerns regarding the closure of industrial units in SME sector and said that the UK Sinha committee report is being implemented. Six lakh industries have been restructured.
He further said that because of the coronavirus outbreak, India's exports have increased.
Whichever industry is facing issues, is already being restructured, he said, adding that MSMEs are being supported.

On proposed Bangalore suburban railway, Congress leader GC Chandrashekar urged the central government to release funds immediately and commence the work else cost will escalate if its implementation is delayed further.
He said that the proposed project was announced in the last three budgets but no progress has been made yet in its implementation.
"If we don't start now, the budget will double. The government should act on this project immediately," he added.

Raising issues related to Karnataka, JD-S leader D Kupendra Reddy brought to the notice of the House the issue of pending court cases in the state.
He mentioned that the state has the highest number of pending court cases as there are about 18 lakh cases struck in various courts because of inadequate judicial officers.
"There is 36 per cent vacancy in high court, while 20 per cent in lower courts in the state. ...the need of the hour is to fill up vacant posts and ensure speedy justice," he added.

Members demanded a relief package for farmers whose standing wheat, pulses and vegetable crops in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi have been damaged by recent unseasonal rains and hailstorm.
Raising the issue, BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) members urged the government to send a central team immediately to assess the crop loss.
BJP leader Vijay Goel mentioned that farmers in Delhi have incurred losses due to damage to their wheat and other crops and the AAP-led Delhi government should release a compensation of Rs 60,000 per acre to each farmer.
"Wheat crop has been completely destroyed. In North, hailstorm and heavy rains have affected wheat and vegetable crops. There are about 50,000 farmers in Delhi. I request the Delhi government to pay a compensation of Rs 60,000 per acre," Goel said.
Echoing his views, SP leader Rewati Raman Singh said that untimely rains and hailstorm in Uttar Pradesh have affected most rabi crops and the government should provide compensation to farmers.
