Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu rejected the Opposition's demand to discuss Delhi violence saying that the matter should be discussed once normalcy is restored.

"I have received notices from members about the present situation in Delhi and other parts of the country. The matter is definitely important. It deserves to be discussed...our priority is to restore normalcy, " said Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.

Rajya Sabha: Opposition protests Delhi violence; House adjourned till 2 pm

New Delhi: With the second half of the budget session of the Parliament beginning on Monday, the Opposition is expected to rake up the issue of violence in northeast Delhi which has claimed more than 40 lives so far.

Meanwhile, the Congress is likely to submit adjournment motion notices in both Houses of Parliament on Monday, demanding a debate over the violence in Delhi. 

Several opposition parties led by the Congress have been demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation over inaction by Delhi Police during the riots.
