Rajya Sabha pays its condolences on passing away of members
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha on Friday paid its condolences on the passing away of MP Ashok Gasti.
"I refer with profound sorrow to the passing away of Ashok Gasti, who was a sitting member of this House from Karnataka. The country has lost an able parliamentarian," Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said.
Two minutes of silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed members.
Vice President on Thursday called up Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to enquire about the health of Rajya Sabha member
Ashok Gasti who is undergoing treatment for COVID-19, the Vice President's Secretariat said.
Earlier, the Vice President's Secretariat had erroneously tweeted about the demise of Gasti.
Naidu is also the Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
