Rajasthan's top police officer seeks retirement

Rajasthan's DGP Bhupendra Singh Yadav has asked for voluntary retirement through VRS. Speculation has been rife that Gehlot led Government is keen to give Singh an important portfolio after his retirement through VRS. He can be made the RPSC Chairman in Rajasthan.

Jaipur: It has come to the fore that Rajasthan's DGP Bhupendra Singh Yadav has sought retirement through Voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).

Yadav met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday where the duo are believed to have discussed the matter.

Speculation has been rife that Gehlot led Government is keen to give Singh an important portfolio after his retirement through VRS. He can be made the RPSC Chairman in Rajasthan.

ML Lather (1987 Batch IPS) and BL Soni are two senior police officers in the upper echelons of state police who are being considered as front runners for the top post after Yadav's retirement.

ML Lather is likely to succeed Bhupendra Singh Yadav as the next DGP of Rajasthan. Lather is the seniormost officer in state police after Yadav.

Apart from Lather, BL Soni who might also be considered as a front runner.

ML Lathar who is currently serving as DG in Crime Branch is also included in the Goodwill list of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
