Rahul, Robert Vadra and not people who lost jobs post-demonetisation: BJP

BJP defends NDA government's demonetization move on its third anniversary, saying it was one of the "successful" steps taken by the government. Hitting back at criticism, the BJP said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who keeps talking about people loosing jobs after the move, has lost his job because of it.

New Delhi: Taking a strong stand against criticism on demonetization, done by its government three years ago, the BJP on Friday said it was "a successful step" of the Narendra Modi-led government that removed middlemen and changed the way India does its business.

"Only people like Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and (his son in law) Robert Vadra have lost their jobs after the exercise undertaken by the union government," BJP spokesperson Prem Shukla told ETV Bharat here.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi's criticism, the BJP leader said there have been a number of effects of the move, and one of them was that Congress had use a large amount of white money in elections that followed the demonetization.

"Demonetization was a successful step taken by our government three years ago. It has removed black money and middlemen from the market," he asserted, refuting all charges against government concerning the exercise.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi on the third anniversary of the demonetization took on to the twitter and said: "It’s thyree yrs since the demonetisation terror attack that devastated the Indian economy, taking many lives, wiping out lakhs of small businesses & leaving millions of Indians unemployed. Those behind this vicious attack have yet to be brought to justice.
