New Delhi: Calling former Congress president Rahul Gandhi a "liar", the BJP on Saturday said his claims on the CAA and the NRC are pack of lies and he was misleading people on the issues of national importance.
"CAA has nothing to do with Indians," BJP national spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri told ETV Bharat here, adding that he should know this.
"The citizenship law has nothing to do with any Indian, then how could he say that would affect all,' he asked, saying that the Congress leader must explain how it would affect poor in the country.
The BJP leader said that the claims made by Gandhi were false and he should either prove what he says or apologize.
On being reminded that Gandhi has termed the proposed NRC "a second demonetization exercise", which would affect all, especially the poor, Shastri said there was no truth in the claims made by him and there would not be any problem to anyone.
"Had that been the case, why would the BJP win over 300 hundred seats in the general elections," he asked, and said his claims about the detention centres were also false as detention centre in Assam was opened up during Congress' rule.
Gandhi, on Friday, had said that the proposed NRC would prove a second demonetization and it would affect poor people badly in the country.
