New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit the streets and interacted with a taxi driver in Delhi to know about his problem during the corona-induced lockdown.

"I work with Uber, a private company. Uber has cut 35% of its workforce to reduce the expenses", said a taxi driver Parmanand, while speaking to Wayanad MP.

According to the reports, many taxi-drivers are in a constant fear of losing their jobs as pandemic has severely affected automobile companies.

Earlier, Rahul had interacted with a group of migrant workers near Sukhdev Vihar flyover in Delhi, and asked them about their plight as they had walked hundreds of miles in a hope to reach home.

The Congress party had recently released a documentary film on Rahul Gandhi's conversation with the group of migrant labourers, in which he asked the Central government to do direct cash transfer of Rs 7,500 in their bank accounts.

The Congress leader has raised the issue of migrant workers crisis urging the government to immediately transfer money into the bank accounts of 13 crore bottomline needy families.
