Raipur: Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo on Sunday said that the state has reported zero migrant labourers in its quarantine centres.
"Today Chattisgarh has reported zero migrant labourers in its Quarantine Centers !! A big challenge which was admirably met by Chhattisgarh Panchayat Dept. Congratulations to its senior officers and staff up to panchayat level," he said.

Bharat Biotech to begin trial of intranasal Covid vaccine soon: Harsh Vardhan
New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday informed that Bharat Biotech will develop an intranasal vaccine for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.
The minister said that the Hyderabad-based drugs and vaccine research and manufacturing company has entered into an agreement with Washington University and St. Louis University for the trials of the nasal vaccine candidate.

COVID-19: Amravati tally now 15,493, recovery rate above 90 pc
Amravati: The number of COVID-19 cases increased by 75 and the death toll by one in Amravati on Sunday, while 103 people were discharged, an official said.
The district now has a caseload of 15,493, including 350 deaths, while 13,974 people, or 90.20 per cent, have been discharged post recovery, he added.
Amravati has 1,179 active COVID-19 cases, 580 of whom are in home isolation.

1,091 new COVID-19 cases in Gujarat; 1,233 recover, nine die
Ahmedabad: The coronavirus tally in Gujarat rose to 1,59,726 after 1,091 new cases were detected on Sunday, the state health department said.
Nine patients succumbed to the infection across the state during the day, which took the death toll to 3,638, it said.
The number of patients discharged on Sunday was 1,233, which was more than the new infection cases. With this, the recovery count mounted to 1,41,652, the department said in its release.
The state's recovery rate has now improved to 88.68 per cent, it added.
A total of 52,141 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, which pushed the overall tally of tests to 53,74,249.

J-K records 578 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 578 fresh COVID-19 cases, while seven fatalities took place in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 87,942 and the death toll to 1,379, officials said.
Out of the fresh cases, 193 are from Jammu and 385 from the Kashmir Valley, they said.
Srinagar district reported the highest number of 167 fresh COVID-19 cases, followed by 119 in Jammu district, the officials said.
There are 8,677 active coronavirus cases, while 77,886 patients have recovered so far, they said.
Meanwhile, seven deaths took place in the past 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir - three in Jammu region and four in the valley - taking the death toll to 1,379, the officials said.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 7631 new covid-19 cases on Sunday taking the total active cases in the state to 95,200.
22 deaths were also confirmed today taking the total death toll to 1161. 8410 were recovered from the disease on Sunday. In the last 24 hours, 58,404 tests were done in the state. 63 health workers also tested positive.
2,45,399 recovered from the disease till now. Out of the confirmed cases, 6685 contracted through contact, while the source of infection of 723 persons remains unknown. Out of the confirmed cases 160 came from outside the state.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh on Sunday reported 29 more deaths due to COVID-19 and 2,503 fresh cases. The state’s COVID-19 tally has reached 4,55,146 and the death toll mounted to 6,658.
In the last 24 hours, the state reported 2,503 fresh cases, of which 293 were detected in Lucknow, 143 in Meerut, 127 each in Prayagraj and Ghaziabad, 112 in Gorakhpur, 110 in Gautam Buddh Nagar and 108 in Varanasi, a medical bulletin said. Seven of the new deaths were reported from Lucknow and two each from Kanpur, Varanasi and Meerut.

India admits community transmission after months of denial
New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday admitted that India is in the community transmission stage.
However, it is limited only to certain districts and states. The statement has come in the backdrop of West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's admission on Monday that the community transmission of COVID-19 has started in the state.
Vardhan's statement was a response to a query made during his weekly webinar, 'Sunday Samvaad' where he interacts with his social media audience.

Uttarakhand's COVID-19 death audit report raises eyebrows
The COVID-19 death audit report of Uttarakhand government brought to light the delay and negligence of state hospitals in reporting fatalities related to the virus.
The negligence was reported after the COVID-19 health bulletin issued by the state government on Saturday showed discrepancies in the total death toll figures.
The bulletin issued on Friday stated that the state has reported 829 deaths due to coronavirus so far. However, Saturday's bulletin said Uttarakhand reported six deaths in the previous 24 hours, but the cumulative death toll of the state rose to 924, indicating an increase of 95 deaths.
Meanwhile, Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Chief Operational Officer of Uttarakhand Control Room COVID-19 wrote a letter to 23 government and private hospitals, asking them to report the death summaries of COVID-19 patients on priority basis to the State Control Room.

11 new COVID-19 cases in Andaman & Nicobar Islands; tally rises to 4,083
The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,083 as 11 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said on Sunday.
Of the 11 new cases in the Union territory, nine were detected during contact tracing, while two patients have travel history, he said.
Seventeen more people have been cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries in the archipelago to 3,848, the official said.
The Union territory now has 179 active COVID-19 cases, while 56 people have so far succumbed to the infection, he said.
The administration has so far sent 74,277 samples for COVID-19 tests, of which 74,027 reports have been received and 250 are awaited, the official added.
