Hyderabad: In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbad Naqvi said that had Tablighi Jamaat not spread the coronavirus we would not have had such a long phase-wise lockdown in the country. Their 'criminal negligence' made us go for a long and harsh lockdown. For which people had to suffer. Some of them hid themselves in villages and became major carriers of the pandemic.
Security agencies will deal with them for their negligence and will ensure that appropriate action is taken against them for what he called the 'criminal negligence'. Naqvi said that the biggest mistake of Jamaat was to avoid a surrender which would have saved not only them but many others from getting infected. They could have come forward and sought for medicare at the initial stage. The government was willing to support them.
In the guise of intellectualism, some people are trying to damage the image of the country which will be dealt with severity and a list is been made to deal with such people. Regarding the Delhi minority commission chairman Zafrul Islam, Naqvi said that he bitched about his own country and sought help from other countries which is morally and ethically unacceptable.
Some intellectuals and scholars are trying to malign the image of India and write about Islamophobia will not make any impact as he believed that the whole world recognizes the secular nature of the country. Anyone fiddling with the foundation of India will be taken care of by the intelligence and security agencies. He said agencies are well aware of the activities of these 'pseudo-scholars' and intellectuals which are involved in anti-national activities.
He said that the lockdown is now being gradually released and people should not be scared and will keep doing their daily job following religiously the health protocols.
