Gandhinagar (Gujarat): The two-day 80th All India Presiding Officers Conference, aiming to facilitate a dialogue between presiding officers of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and other legislative bodies, will be held from Wednesday near the 'Statue of Unity' at Kevadiya in Gujarat's Narmada district.
The event, also known as the Speakers' Conference, will be inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Elaborate security arrangements are being made for the conference as President Ramnath Kovind, speakers of all the legislative assemblies of states, officials of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are going to be in attendance.
The conference will discuss matters related to country's defence and security, social and economic development. The presiding officers of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and state assemblies will discuss how coordinated relationship among the executive, legislative, and judicial wings can be without encroaching on the functions of each and within the Constitution.
President Ram Nath Kovind will deliver the concluding speech. On the concluding day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the conference online and deliver a virtual speech.

2,000 jawans will provide security
The administration of the Narmada district is in all readiness for the conference. Liaison officers have been appointed and 37 teams have been formed for providing security to the participants. For all other arrangements the tourism department has been entrusted to look after Narmada Tent City-2. District collector DA Shah has formed 37 committees and deputed more than 500 administrative officers and government employees to different locations. As many as 2,000 jawans from four districts have been kept on stand by position.
President Ram Nath Kovind will visit tree he planted in 2018
The pipal tree, planted by President Ram Nath Kovind on December 15, 2018, has grown into a seven-feet-tall tree. The forest department has taken special care of the tree. President Kovind will visit this tree on November 25 and perform pooja by offering water to it.
The pipal tree is located near the valley of flowers next to the Statue of Unity. A steel grill provides protection to the tree. The President accompanied by his wife had visited the Statue of Unity on December 15, 2018 when he had planted the sapling. In the last two years, the tree has bloomed well.
