Rahul mocks Modi for not taking questions during presser debut

Rahul Gandhi's tweet came in the backdrop of the PM showing up for a scheduled press conference called by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah, but refraining from answering questions citing party discipline, "I am a disciplined soldier. In our party, the president is everything."

New Delhi: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making his debut at a press conference since he took office, but not taking questions from the media, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, "showing up is half the battle".

Gandhi took to Twitter to mock PM Modi, "Congratulations Modi Ji. Excellent Press Conference! Showing up is half the battle. Next time Mr Shah may even allow you to answer a couple of questions. Well done!"

Gandhi's tweet came in the backdrop of the PM showing up for a scheduled press conference called by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah but refrained from answering questions saying, "I am a disciplined soldier. In our party, the president is everything."

However, he did mention that the BJP will come back to power with a full majority on its own.

"In my opinion, our full majority government will return to power, such a thing will happen after a long time in the country," Modi said.

Modi also termed the Lok Sabha elections a "spectacular" and "positive exercise".

Gandhi, whose press conference coincided with that of the BJP, and he responded to reporters who informed him that the Prime Minister was going to address a press conference around the same time as he is, saying, "Prime Minister holds a press conference just 4-5 days before the election ends. Unprecedented, Prime Minister of India is holding a press conference for the first time."
