PM Narendra Modi met Japan's PM Shinzo Abe in Russia’s Vladivostok to further strengthening bilateral relation in economic, defence and security fields among others. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Russia to attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum.

Vladivostok (Russia): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe in Russia’s Vladivostok on Thursday morning and deliberated on a wide range of subjects.

Both the leaders held a meeting to further strengthening bilateral relation in economic, defence and security fields among others, according to MEA spokes Raveesh Kumar.

"A global partnership reinforced by robust bilateral ties. PM Narendra Modi met with PM Shinzo Abe on the margins of 5th EEF in Vladivostok. Discussed deepening multi-faceted ties in economic, defence and security, start-up and 5G areas and exchanged views on the regional situation," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a tweet.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Russia to attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum.

The meeting between prime minister Modi and Abe comes after they met at the G-20 Summit in Osaka in Japan and on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Biarritz in France.

The prime Minister's maiden visit to the Russian Far East region.
Upon his arrival here on Wednesday, Modi received a guard of Honour at the Vladivostok International Airport. He then met Russian President Vladimir Putin and paid a visit to 'Zvezda' Shipbuilding complex.

The two leaders also spent "quality time" together onboard a ship as part of a special gesture to further cement cooperation with "a valued friend", according to the PMO.
Modi and Putin signed various agreements in the fields of military and technical cooperation, energy and science, LNG Business and LNG supplies, and natural gas, to name a few, after holding bilateral talks and delegation-level negotiations.
